As well as celebrating 50 years of wrapping excellence (on 9 May 2010), Beck Packautomaten also announced a major upgrade of its Serienpacker series by adding four-sided product sealing, greater efficiency, cost savings and higher versatility to its already impressive list of features.

New electronically controlled drive systems for cross and side sealing, a larger working width range, significantly reduced energy consumption, minimal floor space and a cost-saving film processing system that allows the use of extremely thin films, all go to making the new generation Serienpacker S 850 XJ a technically advanced wrapping machine.

Particular effort has been made to ensure that the new Serienpacker S 850 XJ provides optimal welding seams to achieve distortion-free and skin-tight packaging, no matter whether using PE, polyolefin and polypropylene films.

Moreover, owing to modifications in the sealing and transport areas the machine can be operated without compressed air.  It is also possible to shut off components that are temporarily not required, which can help to significantly reduce energy costs.

Design and construction has been optimised, resulting in a much smaller packaging machine and a considerable reduction in floor space.  The size of the control cabinet has been reduced by one third, the film rolls integrated into the casing, and the versatile transport conveyors, which allow products to be fed either by hand or fully automatically, have been re-designed in order to save space.

The touch panel now allows even easier adjustment of the Serienpacker S 850 XJ and quicker changeovers between jobs. Icons guide the operator and make using the machine much easier. Packaging data is calculated automatically and then stored in a memory - it has never been simpler to enter and retrieve packaging data!
