Independent corrugated packaging company Cepac has praised the impact of its new Baumann BSW Automatic Pile Turner, saying the machine has significantly helped strengthen production.
Cepac opted for the Pile Turner after seeing a version of the device in action during a visit to Baumann in Germany last year. The company purchased a BSW 7 model from Friedheim International and installed the device at its Darlington site.
Cepac has been running the Pile Turner for just over one year and Martin Ward, Conversion Shift Manager at Cepac, has noticed a huge difference in production.
“The Pile Turner has helped to reduce the amount of stoppages due to adequately aerated paper stacks,” Ward said. “It has also made the pile turning process safer, reducing the manual handling of pallets.
“We are currently running 160 GSM to 230 GSM papers with sizes between 600mm and 1,600mm from varied suppliers, and we also reworking corrugated board with ease.”
Specifications on the Baumann BSW 7 Automatic Pile Turner include a minimum sheet format of 700mm x 1,000m and a maximum format of 1,260mm x 1,670mm. The machine also has a minimum pile height of 800mm and maximum of 2,020mm.
Features on the BSW 7 include single pallet clamping for one-way pallets, a sheet down-holding device for support in production, a mobile control panel for enhanced usability and a surrounding catwalk for easier access.
Ward also spoke highly of Cepac’s experience working with Friedheim on both the purchase of the machine and its installation.
“Friedheim have been good to work with and they’ve listened to our requirements,” Ward said. “Friedheim have worked with us throughout the entire process and their continued support has been very good.”
Baumann added in a statement: “Baumann Pile Turners give you the opportunity to save time, reduce the costs and eliminate the physical effort.”
